Choosing Peace: Lessons from the “Walk For Peace”

The “Walk For Peace” has captured hearts across the country. Starting in Fort Worth, Texas, a group of Buddhist monks is journeying toward the nation’s Capital, spreading a vital message of hope along the way. Despite freezing temperatures, thousands have gathered to hear their call for diversity, interconnection, and the inherent goodness found in America.

A Simple Daily Practice

The Monks’ message is refreshingly simple: wake up every day and commit to the phrase, “Today is going to be my peaceful day.”

They remind us that peace is an internal state that no one can take from us—unless we allow it.

To protect your peace, a few suggestions are:

  • Catch the Spark: When anger or greed arises, address it immediately. If left unchecked, negative emotions fester and can eventually distort your entire worldview.
  • Breathe Through It: Use breathing meditations to stay centered.
  • Own Your Choice: Remember that maintaining a peaceful mind is a conscious, daily decision.

Bringing Mindfulness to the Workplace

Peace isn’t just a spiritual concept; it’s a practical tool for health. Mindfulness meditation techniques are proven to enhance well-being, physical health, and leadership capabilities. Practice not only improves health and well-being, but makes us better parents, friends, partners, co-workers, and leaders!

A peaceful mind is not sustainable from a one-time walk or event but requires a steady practice and effort using simple techniques.

During the height of the pandemic, we offered free 20-minute morning meditation sessions via Zoom. In today’s fast-paced world, we believe this focus is needed more than ever.

Join Our Next Session

We are looking to bring these sessions back! Whether for personal growth or as part of a workplace wellness initiative, the benefits of meditation are felt immediately and deepen over time. Please let us know! Email, phone, or contact us

Cultivating a peaceful/positive state of mind makes a difference in our workplaces, our communities, and our world.

Manage Your Life

Mind your thoughts,
as they become words;
Mind your words,
as they will become actions;
Mind your actions,
as they become habits;
Mind your habits,
as they define character;
Mind your character,
as it becomes destiny.
